An Elegant Lady

Here is my entry for this month's ART JOURNAL JOURNEY theme of 'Elegance and Grunge', hosted by Gill.

I started by dripping and dragging Distress Stain, Vintage Photo and Distress Ink, Antique Linen across the page, then added torn strips from a magazine page.  To tone down the colours of the magazine, I painted the whole page randomly with gesso.
The nude figure is one I painted early on when I started looking at figures and is taken from an Artist Photo Reference Book.  I cut the image out and pasted it on using Mod Podge, which I used for all the elements.  I added another torn strip of paper, then the birdhouse and die cut shapes in the bottom corner which I received through an online swap.  You can see the layers in this close up.
The image behind the birdhouse is from Crafty Individuals' stamped in Distress Ink Vintage Photo.  The die cut butterflies were sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist,  Astral Mystery to provide a pop of colour and add to the elegance.
