The theme at Art Journal Journey this month as chosen by Valerie is 'Indian Summer - Golden October - Autumn' and there are some wonderful entries showcasing the colours and textures of the season. I chose to focus on the colours and movement of the season but this theme could be interpreted in lots of ways so click HERE to find inspiration for your own page.
I love the colours of Autumn as the leaves change and I tried to capture that feeling of leaves falling from the trees, adding to the collection already on the ground.
I started by dropping very wet watercolour paint in red, yellow and brown onto dry paper then tilting the page to allow the colours to mix and run. To this I added a few dabs of darker brown and bright yellow here and there to brighten the faded look
Using an acrylic leaf stamp pressed into the wet paint as it dried I managed to create faint outlines of the leaf in an attempt to add texture and depth.
A few cut out leaves, inked with half red, yellow or orange StazOn and stamped onto orange and brown card, added to the depth to create a sense of motion.
