A Vintage Journey

I'm sharing a piece I made for the current theme at A VINTAGE JOURNEY which is 'Monochromatic'.

This challenge blog is for those who love vintage; shabby; mixed media; art journaling; industrial or steampunk and they welcome entries of all kinds as long as they are rooted in the above and are tasteful.  I chose to make a vintage shabby piece in shades of blue.

I started with a piece of chipboard as my backing, then ran a piece of watercolour paper through the Cuttlebug to dry emboss a Victorian-style swirl pattern which I then sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Astral Blue.  You're allowed use white or black with the monochrome theme so I allowed some of the white paper to show through and when dry, sanded away some of the spray from the embossing.  The paper was then fixed to the chipboard backing with Mod Podge.

I painted the scalloped chipboard frame with pale blue craft acrylic paint and then sponged lightly with white chalk paint.

The small roses, cameo, heart and corners are made from Martha Stewart white paper clay, pushed into a mould.  Some of these were sprayed with the Vintage Mist and others were painted lightly with the blue acrylic paint.

A little lace, some white paper flowers and a pearl pin added to the shabby vintage feel of the piece.
