If You Go Down to the Woods ...

I'm sharing an art journal page with you today which I made for the current ART JOURNAL JOURNEY theme 'If you go down to the woods...'

Many of you will know this is a line from the song 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'.  I remember as a child my dad playing this to me on his piano accordion, so that was my first thought for the page.  Then I considered Little Red Riding Hood or bluebells before finally settling on one which works perfectly for this Easter bank holiday -  Rabbits.

I started by spraying the top half of the page with Cosmic Shimmer Astral Mist to provide some blue for the sky, then used a Tim Holtz tree bark stencil and white texture paste.  For the smaller trees I used strips of scrunched-up white tissue paper.

Next, using Winsor & Newton watercolours, I painted the tree trunks brown and added the green foliage.  The rabbits were free downloads.

I like the whimsical, almost Beatrix Potter effect I've somehow managed to achieve and I wish I could say it was intentional but I'm not that clever.

Happy Easter.
