Watercolour Poppy

I haven't shared any painting for a while and whilst this is only quick observation, not a finished painting, I'm pleased with the way the flower head turned out.

I used an underpainting of Quinacridone Gold to keep the colour as vibrant as possible and then allowed the top colour to blend on the paper.  I tried a different method of painting the stem and used the wrong brush which is why it's too thick.  But that's the point of preliminary sketches like this - so you get it right when you paint it properly.

Beautiful! You also managed to capture a sense of the translucent, as though sun was shining through the petals.
