I have put together several scrapbook layouts about our beautiful cat Smudge.  We got her in 2006 from a cat rescue centre and she became the fourth member of the family.  Sadly just before Christmas she developed a tumour and declined rapidly.  In November we had to put her to sleep which was devastating for all of us and we miss her constantly.

I wanted to put together another layout, incorporating her collar and identity tag and whilst the previous layouts had been bright and lively, this one seemed to evolve naturally in a more muted colour palette: not sombre and not really intentional either.
I started with cream 12" x 12" card using DI Vintage Photo and a flourish stencil to provide a vintage-style frame for the layout.  The sentiment is from one of Tim's Stampers Anonymous 'Stuff to Say' collections using DI Black Soot with a chipboard frame which was heat embossed with Frantage aged scarlet embossing enamel.
I tried the embossing with texture fade technique using DI Fired Brick and Vintage Photo on white card which I cut into strips to form the background to the photo.
The frames are cut using the Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge and the post card stamp is from the Stampers Anonymous Postcards collection, stamped in Black Soot.
I'm entering this into the current  challenge # 23 at A VINTAGE JOURNEY  which is 'Use a Portrait'.
Needless to say, after enjoying a couple of months without sofa throws and worrying about cat fur on our clothes, the house seemed very empty and so yesterday we collected another cat from our local Cat's Protection Centre.  She is completely black and 1-year old and before you ask, yes there will be a layout featuring our new family member very soon.

What a lovely way to remember a beloved member of the family. I always love to see a twist on the use of a portrait and you have done it so well. Thank you for sharing Smuge with all of us traveling on A Vintage Journey.
