My Little Tags - Take 1

I have a collection of tags which I've made for various challenges over the last few months and now and again I like to make some of them into cards.  This is one I've made into a birthday card, keeping the vintage theme going with a kraft card blank.

As the tag is quite fussy, I deliberately kept the card blank plain but picked up the lavender flowers and lace from the original tag.

This is the first of several scheduled posts, using previously-made tags.

I Must Have Been Really Good Lately !!

Because I have been picked by the random number generator again over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges for my Clockwork tag.  I'm still displaying my winner's badge in the sidebar from last time and I'm looking forward to choosing even more goodies from Flonzcrafts.

Thank you to all at Fashionable Stamping Challenges
and congratulations to the Top 3 Winners.

Time For the Two of Us

Here's a little tag I made to enter into two challenges:

CRAFTY INDIVIDUALS  - Tag, You're It
and
FASHIONABLE STAMPING CHALLENGES  - Like Clockwork

Usually clock and watch images are associated with masculine themes and colours but I wanted to use these images in a feminine way, using soft colours.  I started with a Crafty Individuals' white tag, coloured with Distress Ink in Milled Lavender  and then stamped the Crafty Individuals' clock and watches collage stamp using DI Seedless Preserve.

The paper frame is heat embossed with FranTage Shabby White Opaque embossing enamel to frame the cute picture from the Crafty Individuals'  Miniatures, People and Places 2 book.  The large fob watch stamp was free from Craft Stamper Magazine and is heat embossed and stuck on with a 3-D foam pad to add dimension.  The Tempus Fugit wording is from the same stamp.

The 'Dreaming' sentiment is from Crafty Individuals and the 'love' is from one of the Tim Holtz, Stuff to Say stamps, both stamped onto white card coloured with DI Dusty Concord.  To finish off, some broken watch parts from a mixed bag I bought on a well-known auction website ages ago and some ribbon.

Another Bonsai

Yep, busy again and struggling for crafting time.  I've got a project on the go but just can't quite seem to get enough time to pull the chair up to my craft table, let alone do anything constructive.  Fingers crossed for the weekend but in the meantime, here's Bonsai cross stitch picture number 3.

When I finally get around to doing something with these, I'll let you know and post the pictures.

P.S. I spent my winning voucher from Fashionable Stamping Challenges.  Flonzcrafts have a nice range of slightly unusual stamps.  If you want to take a look, click on the FSC link in the sidebar and then click the Flonzcrafts link on their blog.  I chose a great mixed collage stamp of vintage transport, gramophones and hot air balloons and a lovely Christmas stamp.  I'll post the projects I use them on so you can see what they're like.

Lilac Dreams

This lovely lilac spotty card has been calling to me from the drawer for ages and so I decided to make a card with lots of texture to show off the soft colour.  I started by dry embossing a piece of white card in the Cuttlebug, using a shabby card frame, cutting out the centre and inserting the piece of cream lace.

I highlighted some of the embossed spots on the frame with Imagination Crafts' Sparkle Medium texture paste in Soft Purple. The highlighting on the butterfly bodies and the edge of the frame is purple Stickles.

Once matted onto the spotty card, I pushed the brad through the centre of the lace and then stuck the mat to the card blank.  A few more circles and a couple of daisy flowers were added round the edge in white texture paste.

I'm entering this into  THAT'S CRAFTY  All About Texture challenge.

Altered Eclectics Monthly Challenge

A new month, another 'Anything Goes' challenge at ALTERED ECLECTICS.  We are strictly an altered art challenge so no papercrafts please.

I decided to alter a cheap canvas this month and started by painting it with DecoArt's Vintage white acrylic paint (even though it looks pure white in the picture below), then I got stuck in with the texture paste.  I used an Imagination Crafts' diamond stencil and Sparkle Medium in Diamond and Gunmetal.

When this was dry I used a small flower swirl stamp and StazOn black ink and very carefully stamped around the texture paste and the large blank areas of the canvas.  The sentiments are from Tim Holtz Stuff to Say and as you can see, the long stamp missed slightly at the top but I covered it up with the roses.  The other sentiment was heat embossed in black onto a piece of very thick card.

The flowers and cameo were made with Martha Stewart's Crafters' clay.  I coloured the white clay with DI Black Soot to make the frame of the cameo.  To make the large net flower I cut a strip of black net wide enough to fit between the diamonds on either side of the canvas and then stitched a running stitch down the middle.  I drew the stitches tight to make the flower and then stitched it onto the canvas before adding the cameo with hot glue.
